Let's be clear: Bar Louie is a bar/tavern; make meal plans accordingly. Lots of deal nights are offered here, making it worth the hunt for the lively bar, tucked into the back of the Renaissance Plaza in Boynton at the corner of Congress and Gateway. Mostly youthful and sports-minded groups gather on the patio or in the dining room in good weather. Late night, a mixed crowd flows in and out, and music cranks, especially on weekends. Sliders are popular starters, and the loaded tater tots fly out of the kitchen. A number of appetizers make for sharing plates -- zucchini chips (served with a trio of sauces), calamari, chips and dip trio (salsa, guacamole, and queso), or pot stickers could satisfy several diners. Sandwiches, pizzas, entree salads, and burgers round out the main plates. But the draw is the drinks -- draft beers and cocktails flow freely here -- so if bringing kids, shoot for the quieter Sunday brunch time frame.
