Description

Michael "Bao" Huynh of Baoguette fame converted one of his banh mi shops into this Asian-Mex burrito joint in 2010. With only two tables crammed into the tiny space, most people choose to get their food to go, although service isn't always the fastest. If you do stay and eat, make sure to grab a cold Jarritos soda from the fridge. The burritos are more like wraps, tortillas filled with globe-spanning combinations like spicy lemongrass beef with green mango salsa and braised short rib with charred scallion and horseradish creme fraiche, all paired with saffron jasmine rice and pinto beans. You can also order Baorrito bowls, which include all of the same ingredients in a bowl over rice. Despite its small size, Baorrito is a fairly stylish restaurant, with a bright blue and red paint job and strips of flowery collages running across the walls and ceiling.—Keith Wagstaff
