Description

Walking into Bamboo Shak is a lot like going to a neighbor's house for dinner and finding out he has built a fully operational 767 out of matchsticks and discarded washing machine parts. The cavernous room is a Caribbean Disneyland, albeit one fairly amateurishly constructed on the most minimal of budgets. The food is as rustic as the décor but not nearly as impressive. It is probably best to bypass appetizers and go straight to entrées, like chicken legs stewed in aromatic jerk spices or mild-flavor tilapia smothered in thick, fiery Caribbean-style curry sauce. The house signature banana split is pretty standard stuff but is served in a bamboo tray as artfully constructed as the rest of the place.
