Housed in Lake Worth's historic Paradise building, the Bamboo Room is the hot spot for live music, especially the blues. Every inch of the club has a story to tell, from the antique Greyhound ticket booth to an array of records and concert posters. Photographs of musicians line the stairwell wall leading up to the main room. A vintage-guitar collection adorns the bamboo-clad walls, and various paintings and sculptures add to the museum-like décor. The enormous collection of vintage cocktail shakers compliments the extensive and creative drink menu. For those looking to enjoy the music from afar, the open-air deck will give your ears a break. Whether a blues aficionado or not, the inviting crowd, laid-back atmosphere, and musical talents put the Bamboo Room on the nightlife map.

The Bamboo Room closed in '08, and we lost a live-music venue that felt more like a neighborhood watering hole. Luckily, the once-beloved club returned in February, and again we have a music venue with no groupies blocking our view of the stage and no clouds of smoke choking the air. A high, peaked ceiling with wooden beams makes the place feel spacious and airy. There's a generous bar in the back, with Cheers-style chandeliers and a mounted deer head on the wall. Roughly 50 tables provide... More »
Wednesday night, 9 p.m. Stomp on up the leopard-print carpeted stairs at this barely year-old blues bar. No cover tonight. Upstairs, within the bamboo walls, bluesman in residence Keith B. Brown is just getting started on his Delta licks. Order up a Konig Pilsener, John Courage, or one of the other fine tap beers. Or try one of the dozens of cocktails available. There are always a few on special for $4. Lounge at the bar and admire the house collection of vintage cocktail shakers. Or work... More »
