For many of us Yanks of a certain age, old-school Americanized Chinese is one of the quintessential comfort foods. This friendly Ballard spot does all the Sino-standards: Kung Pao, Ginger Beef, Chow Mein, Garlic Prawns. It's all pretty tasty and inexpensive, particularly the pan-fried noodles, which come with beef, chicken, pork, prawns, seafood or tofu. The real deals are at lunch, where no meal costs more than $7 and you get hot and sour soup to boot. Not a bad place to rediscover your Yen for Chinese food that Tony Bourdain wouldn't be caught dead eating.
