Description

A bar and grill has been open at this location since 1913. The Balboa Cafe, flagship of the PlumpJack group, serves solid, pricey, upscale American food (salads, burgers, fresh fish, pasta, steaks, and chops) in a wood-paneled setting perfect for its Cow Hollow/Pacific Heights neighborhood. Among the standbys are a big burger served on a baguette and the reliable roasted chicken.

  • 2007 | Best Bar to Score With a MILF

The Balboa Cafe, situated in the Marina District, is one pillar of the neighborhood's "Triangle" of popular bars on the corners of Fillmore and Greenwich Streets. The Cafe offers upscale American grub, a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere, televised sports, and a long wooden bar with its own appetizer menu and smattering of post-work young corporate types. The result is a hamburger at once hearty, elegant, and absolutely appropriate to the restaurant's clubby ambience of crisp napery, dark woods, brass accents, and handsome artworks.... More »

cougar central is what I like to call this place. I promise you if you bring a good looking younger guy (between 21 and 25) the 40 year old women will show no fear, have no shame, and be so aggressive its worth the $9 martini just to see the look on your poor friends face!

I haven't eaten here, but it's a pretty good bar to go to on the weekends. It can get really crowded and is definitely a pick-up scene.
