Owned by the same folks behind Happy Lounge, a low-profile Richmond District bar, Bai Som is a homey, cute Thai restaurant with pictures of Thai royalty pasted on the walls. It serves up dishes few American Thai food fans will fail to recognize: scallop and pumpkin soup, green curry pork, pad Thai. Portions are huge, and some of the tastiest dishes are the more unusual offerings, such as corn fritters with an apple dipping sauce.
