Description

There's something about Backstage - which has stood directly across the street from Sony Studios for over 70 years- that begs for hell-raising. Comfortable and roomy, but often packed, strangers become friends pretty quickly here, especially when the scene is amped by entertainment (karaoke Thursday-Saturday and Wednesday's house band King Chris and the Groove Thang). Super-fattening bar food (garlic fries, mac n' cheese, burgers, wings), an authentic black and white photo booth, pool tables, multiple TV screens and cool art (Jimi, Elvis, Clint and Cash) give this one a certain ballsy-ness, but it's the booze concoctions -"Culver City Slut" (Stoli Vanilla, Kahlua, Coke and Cream) and the "Blowjob" shot- that inspire the real bad behavior.

    Located just behind the Sony lot, this spot gets its fair share of "below-the-line" talent which offsets the Culver City yuppy scene. Part sports bar, part pool hall, part karaoke bar, and all dive, The Backstage is a great place for some serious cocktailing.
