Description

Back Alley/Front Street is the epitome of Downtown Fullerton nightlife. The two main rooms are separated by a perpetually unfinished, plywood-encased hallway and both feature a fully-stocked bar, standard tap and bottled beer offerings. The Back Alley sports a pool table (free) and jukebox, while Front Street features a ping-pong table (also free). The small stage at the Back Alley regularly features local bands and cover artists. The outdoor gated smoking patio affords access to the back end bar through a large window, creating a third section. Happy hour is Monday through Friday, 4-7 p.m., featuring $2.50 domestic drafts and $4.50 well drinks.

  • 2011 | Best Place to Pick Up Drunk College Students

While we can't comment on friends who may or may not have made brief eye contact with a pretty college-aged lass before the two adjourned to the sidewalk outside Back Alley's large smoking patio for a brief romp, we can say the informal, booze-fueled environment of the venerable watering hole is conducive to bringing strangers together. With Cal State Fullerton and Fullerton College close by, it's an attractive option for stressed-out matriculates looking to blow off a little steam. There's... More »

  • 2009 | Best Neighborhood Bar/North OC

Set smack-dab in the middle of Fullerton's small but bustling downtown is a long, rectangular space of suds and boozin' wonderfulness. The front half, facing East Wilshire Avenue, is the Front Street at the Back Alley bar and grill. Large windows draw in enough light to keep it a bright, cheery and respectable neighborhood lounge with a long bar tucked in one corner, a pool table in another and enough floor space to hold a recreational softball D league. Barbecue, cocktails and seven... More »

I like this place because it has a big patio during the summer. If you don't want to be outside, you can also go to the front of the bar and listen to the jukebox they have there.
