Irving Street's Baan Thai is decorated with the same high drama as the Osha chain: black tables and napkins, dark walls, Lady Gaga on the stereo, backlit shelves glowing through dozens of wine bottles. The restaurant matches classic Thai and Thai-American dishes with a worldly wine list, all at reasonable prices. Baan's crying tiger salad dressed warm, tender beef and mixed lettuces in a potent lime-and-fish-sauce dressing; the apple curry is an unusual delight.
