Trendy, neo-boho watering hole/cafe that pulses with energy, and remains one of the most reliable late-night dining spots in town. When the rest of Scottsdale is yawning and rolling up the sidewalks, AZ 88 is going strong like a stud bull on Viagra. God bless 'em. Edibles are mainly salads, burgers and sammies - nothing amazing, but there are some solid noshes to be had. For finger food, we dig the galettes, these little flatbread pizza thingees, and the Buffalo-style chicken salad with blue cheese and hot sauce goes well with a glass of Bass Ale. Check out the mirrored stalls in the restrooms: Guaranteed to trip you out.
OK. Last week, I learned a lesson in jumping to gluten-free conclusions about a place. When I went to AZ88 The Bar on the Scottsdale Mall with a group of some of my favorite women, and when the wait... More »

great indoor/outdoor dining. It's a scene but its a great value and what at least I view as comfort food with good presentation in a very hip setting - so you can take a wider variety of people and they will be happy, it's a destination as much as a restaurant
The martinis are amazing. Love the table setting and the food is just delicious. Look forward to my next visit.
Martinis!!!!
Many lament the lack of fine dining -- or even a snack -- in the vicinity of any sort of performing arts complex in this city. Downtown Scottsdale is the notable exception, and has been forever. We remember dining at China Lil's or Jed Nolan's, '70s-era restaurants that circled the still-grassy Scottsdale Mall. Today Lil and Jed are long gone, but in their place we're happy to find AZ 88, just a bit younger than the old folks, and still going strong after years in business. After a performan... More »
When the weather's just right, we like to sip a vodka martini on the perfectly appointed patio at AZ 88, with the rest of the beautiful people. When it's too hot, we'll crowd up against them at the bar. Last time we were there, it drizzled, but instead of ushering the B.P.s indoors, the staff handed out black umbrellas, a charming touch, and not surprising, given that attention to detail -- from the ever-changing art to the coffee bean in the espresso martini -- is a hallmark of this...
