Description

Take in some Classical or Buddhist sculptures, then take in some casual, exhibition-influenced dishes -- like the chiles rellenos and enchiladas based on the Mexico 200 exhibition in 2010. Or just try the regular non-curated foods like tamarind cured beef tenderloin salad and the farmers-market veggie sandwich. This being Texas, there is a taco plate, naturally. (Tacos are never too low-brow for a high-class arts establishment.) The museum cafe is large and thanks to its open floor plan, is spacious enough to accommodate a class of elementary school students with a sack-lunch menu, yet just right for a romantic rendezvous to appreciate 5,000-year-old art. The monumentally grand window allows natural light to brighten the café filled with tables and chairs of contemporary design.
