Beloved Astor Wines & Spirits, which recently moved down the street to a massive new space underneath Serafina, now features The Study at Astor Center, a rather loftily-titled institution of higher oenophilic learning. (The Study features a classroom with special lighting to properly examine your wine.) Other additions to Astor Wines include 50 percent more room for wines and liquors; a wine-literature library; a room to store 500 of the more fragile wines at 58 degrees; a special organic-wine section; and what the owner claims is the city's biggest selection of sakA(c), kept at 40 degrees ("the way those wines should be maintained").
