Located on the 35th floor of the Mandarin Oriental hotel the Upper West Side, Asiate is the Asian fusion/fine dining child of Executive Chef Toni Robertson, and serves expected dinner dishes such as butter poached lobster and beef tartare and bison, all only available as part of a prix fixe or tasting menu. The tastiness trickles down, though, into more affordable, equally exquisite a la carte (with the option of prix fixe) breakfast, brunch, and lunch menus, which are always changing. The experience goes beyond the food and extends into the absurd, wall-size views of Central Park. That, paired with a wall rack of more than 1,300 wines and some flashy ceiling art, and Asiate is an enjoyable fine dining experience. --Shane Barnes
One of the best views in the whole city is what makes Asiate, located on the 35th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, worth a visit. You have a direct view of Central Park, one that is even more magical when you propose to your significant other over sunset. And yes, the Asian-accented food is spot-on, like the "Buckwheat & Eggs," which pairs soba noodles with Osetra caviar and wasabi cream. 80 Columbus Circle, 212-805-8800, mandarinoriental.com/newyork/dining/asiate More »
