This has to be one of the most beautiful restaurants in Houston, with one of the best views of downtown. And the food is spectacular. Since it is on the second floor of the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, the menu has a performance art theme, divided into "acts." Standout dishes include Peruvian lobster bisque, crispy soft-shell crawfish taquitos and the signature churrasco steak. The tres leches is one of the best in town.
Chances are that if you're heading downtown for a night out at the opera, the symphony or the Alley, you're not simply grabbing McDonald's on your way -- you want to make an evening of this, as well y... More »
When there was still an Amazon Grill on Gessner near Westheimer, I ate lunch there -- on average -- once a week. It was an easy choice to please a pack of picky co-workers, as it offered everything fr... More »
After having the best caipirinha we had ever had (in the States) at Artista last week, some friends and I decided to have a cachaca tasting at home and make our own caipirinhas. To go with our Brazili... More »

Excellent place to eat before the play at the Hobby Center. Their seafood specials are usually wonderful. Can't keep away from the free plantains they start you with!
If you want to impress someone with one of the most beautiful views of the Houston skyline, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place than Michael Cordúa's showcase restaurant, Artista, on the second floor of the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. If the view doesn't impress your guests, then the food and decor most definitely will. The high ceilings, glass walls, onyx wraparound bar and sumptuous booths make for a dramatic interior, while food like the chupe (lobster bisque... More »
Few restaurants have a better view of downtown Houston, and none has a more beautifully appointed interior, than Artista, which is located on the second floor of the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Extremely elegant and very quiet, the main dining room is an expansive, high-ceilinged space dominated by a distinguished onyx wrap-around bar and floor-to-ceiling windows. A fabulous outdoor seating area lets diners get close and friendly with the skyline, and warm tones, soft lighting and... More »
Artista The best complement to a fine performance is a fine meal. Lucky for theatergoers, the perfect eatery is right in the thick of downtown. At Artista, on the second floor of the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, every dish is a skilled production. From the ethereally light soft-shell crawfish taquitos to the crispy duck scallopini to the flourless chocolate cake with orange-chocolate bisque sauce, Artista's sometimes surprising taste combinations are an art form unto themselves.... Michael Cordúa's best dishes are shockingly imaginative combinations of bold flavors presented in wild new ways. And there has never been a better stage for Cordúa's brilliance than Artista, his extraordinary new restaurant in the Hobby Center. The location in the performing arts center has inspired everything about the restaurant, from the name to the menu design to the theatricality of the decor. The Hobby's soaring roofline creates a three-story-high space inside the... More »
