An inexpensive lunch combo of a made-to-order sandwich, a bag of chips and a drink makes for an old-school deli attractive to workers from the nearby Scottish Rite Hospital and hotels as well as UT Dallas students. Better still, the bargain-price lunch special is just one of things that distinguishes this shop from other sandwich makers. Another is relish-christened chow-chow, a condiment best applied to the signature "The Original" (ham, German salami, provolone cheese, mayonnaise, pickles, with chow-chow on fresh baked bread). The chips options are dominated by the standard supermarket variety. But, again, that's part of the draw to Antoine's. It's a no-frills joint with straight-up sandwiches. Wash it all down with a Snyder Soda.
When you just want a plain, no-frills, downright good sandwich, this is the place. The addition of chow-chow to all of their sammys keeps it from being too plain, too. Plus, they have a great selection of Synder's sodas.
Great deli near uptown!
Yes, since I was 6 years old. Same menu, same excellence. The prices have changed, sure, but it's still a steal - you can buy an entire sandwich for three bucks and the quality blows Subway out of the water. It's just amazing to me to have such a connection with a fantastic hole-in-the-wall place for such a long time in today's "corporate america" environment. I personally recommend the "Super" - tell Sam that a Lifto sent you :-) Best Po Boys I've ever had. Period.

For the low, low price of $3.59, they serve up the po' boy to end all po' boys. Just ask for the "red wrap" and they'll know what you're talking about: double ham, double German salami, double provolone cheese, mayo, chowchow and pickles on fresh hoagie bread. On the Dallas scene for almost four decades, Antoine's serves up color-coded slices of heaven. The "green wrap" is Antoine's original and most popular. It's the "red wrap" without double helpings of all the goodies. Then, there's the... More »
