When Hollywood institution Beefeater Steakhouse closed shop in late 2010, Angus, a near carbon copy of the Argentine steak haven, serendipitously opened its doors across Hollywood Boulevard just days later. The odd coincidence not withstanding, fans of the inexpensive Argentine cuts served at Beefeater would do well to visit Angus, which copies everything from the $7.95 skirt-steak special to the lemony chimichurri sauce spooned on top with gusto. Try the vacio (flap) steak, a tender, two-inch-thick slab that's seasoned beautifully and grilled to a ruby red inside. As that hunk of beef bleeds, you can sop it up with gaucho-style bread and accompanying homemade pasta with pink sauce, which in turn mixes with the chimichurri to create a cocktail as enticing as any pitcher of sangria (also cheap here, just $15 by the carafe). You'll leave with a belly full of booze and meat for a helluva price, which is about all you would ask of any South American steak joint.
