Having debuted back in 1971, the Alwun House arguably sired the entire downtown arts district. Housed in a historic two-story built in 1912 home, owners Kim Moody and Dana Johnson the joint as both a gallery and studio for themselves and local artists. There's also an ample stage area in the back that has hosted fetish balls, poetry slams, fire-dancing, experimental music, and performance art.

This is one of the most different places to have an outstanding time!
I have been to many events at the Alwun House. The house itself is a historic home, which houses the art exhibits that you can SEE. But outside there is an outdoor stage where there is auditory art! Eyegasms and eargasms. :-) LOVE this place!
Alwun House is such a cool art venue. The inside is an old, wooden-floored house and the outside is an enchanting garden of a place. They have giant parachutes over top of the space and it gives it a really mystical feel.
Before there was a First Friday or a Roosevelt Row, the best -- and for a while, the only -- place to find alternative contemporary art was Alwun House.
