Cecile and Al Pepi moved their gourmet grocery venture from New York to Houston because the City That Never Sleeps was wearing them down. They wanted to slow things down a bit. However, since their relocation and the opening of Altoni Market Café, the pace has been anything but relaxed. Demand for their homey, made-from-scratch eats led to a successful catering business, now run by son Al Pepi Jr. Locations are as far flung as Chicago and Austin, with two Dallas operations. At this location, general manager Eddie Ouille and catering sales manager Linda Nayfa offer a wide range of food choices for those in party planning mode -- anything from breakfast tacos and salads to Italian standards like Cecile Pepi’s secret-recipe beef lasagna, a customer fave.
