Description

This Russian Hill Italian stand-by has been a meeting place for politicians and local socialites for years, and the slightly prim interior is appointed with framed pictures of the restaurant's most famous guests. The opera soundtrack can feel corny, but the food won't ruffle any feathers: lobster and crab in cream-sauced ravioli, beef carpaccio with Parmesan and truffle oil, gnocchi with Gorgonzola and walnuts, and rigatoni with bacon, which according to the restaurant is former Mayor Willie Brown's favorite dish. The host is charming and over-the-top, passing out roses to female guests.
