You won't find mariachis, oversized margaritas or stuffed chihuahuas at this tiny taco restaurant, but what Alegria lacks in kitschy ambiance it makes up for in divinely authentic Mexican eats on the cheap. This husband-and-wife operation ushers in a neighborhood crowd daily for plates of tacos, burritos, tamales, menudo and heaping plates of beans and rice. Most dishes run under $10 with tacos a mere $2.50 a pop. A couple of patio-style tables occupy the storefront and a pair of folding chairs guard the door, but take-out is mostly preferred.
