With crisp white tablecloths and a handsome granite bar, Joe and Myrah Aiello's namesake restaurant feels like a special occasion place, except that it's worthy of frequent visits. For one thing, they'll welcome you like a regular, and the prices are quite accessible. Highlights include lasagna with sausage-studded sauce, melt-in-your-mouth veal saltimbocca alla Romana, and delicate gnocchi bathed in an ethereal pesto cream sauce. Bring some good friends, order up a nice bottle of Italian wine, and soak up the classy vibe.
We had a good mix of new restaurants or restaurants expanding into new digs last month. A storied BBQ pitmaster found a new home in Phoenix and a new frozen yogurt place breezed into town. At the s... More »

We've been infatuated with this classy neighborhood Italian restaurant from our very first bite of gnocchi draped in pesto cream sauce. Food like that makes us fall in love, fast. But there's something else that's endearing about Aiello's — the personal service. This is a family operation, and it shows, especially when chef-owner Joe Aiello makes his rounds in the dining room. We've never been here when he didn't step out of the kitchen to schmooze with regulars and dote on first-timers. He's a larger-than-life personality, and he likes to keep his customers fat and happy. His wife, Myrah, is an equally welcoming hostess, sometimes stopping by each table to let diners pick a chance to win a free dinner. Yep, these folks will do anything to keep you coming back — although in truth, the food alone is enough to get us in the door.
Mmmm, really yummy Italian food. I love that the owner always walks around to every table--very personable and fun! http://www.nickialanoche.com/2009/12/06/aiellos-serves-up-italian-food-in-family-setting/
Oh! So so good. If you want a great night out, food that delights your tastebuds and an extremely atmosphere, this is the place!
