This cute little Italian sandwich shop doubles as a Sicilian market for those looking for cheap, casual Italian fare in Little Italy. Absent are any of the kitschy Italian-American design clichés that mar so many other establishments in the area. Instead, the look is clean and casual, the narrow space outfitted with exposed brick, shelves of Italian groceries and a glass counter full of all kinds of breads and pastries. During lunch the place is crowded with people looking to scarf down big sandwiches like the massive Muffaletta (ham, salami, mortadella, provolone, mozzarella and olive salad) and the Il Siciliano (fried eggplant, ricotta, roasted peppers). Also available to-go are a variety of pastas like fettucine alfredo and ravioli, most at only $8 or under. Entrees such as chicken Parmigiana and shrimp scampi are similarly inexpensive.
