Description

The cook is Senegalese, and the menu includes a handful of West African dishes, mainly reconfigured for bistro purposes. Thus a special of chicken mafe--normally a boiled chicken immersed in a thick, spicy peanut goo--is here rendered as breast medallions in a light, thin, and un-spicy peanut sauce with a lovely golden sheen. Other dishes reproduce bistro standards, such as a streak frites with plenty of fries and a generously proportioned sirloin, which was barely slicked with a sauce redolent of Worcestershire and a flowery taste we couldn"t quite put our finger on. The BYOB is a further boon, with Gnarly Vines just around the corner on Myrtle.
