Abdallah's is well known for its loaves of fresh pita, but there's more to the Gulfton-area bakery than just bread. The daily steam table sees a busy lunch crowd and a leisurely dinner crowd who are there to enjoy authentic Lebanese food and some of the best falafel and tabbouleh anywhere. Many of the Middle Eastern items are also available frozen -- Abdallah's makes all of its food from scratch, then freezes some of it for your convenience -- to take home along with plenty of dry goods and bakery items. One of the restaurant's wonderful shawarmas with one side will barely set you back $6, an even better deal when you consider that it's served all day long. And for those early risers, Abdallah's also offers breakfast. Want some foul with your eggs? You can get it here.

Abdallah's sells its pita bread not only at the store but also to many of the Middle Eastern restaurants and supermarkets in town. The bread here is large, about 12 inches in diameter. Six come in a package for the incredible price of $1.25. A whole-wheat version is available for $1.50. When toasted, the bread opens to form the perfect pocket, ready to be filled with your favorite falafel. Alternatively, you can tear off a piece and scoop up your favorite hummus or tabouleh. Even alone,... More »
