Description

A-Wah is a Hong Kong restaurant specializing in bo zai fan, designated on the English menu as "World Famous Rice in Casserole." Cooked rice is deposited in a lidded clay pot that's been soaked in water, and then tidbits of meat, poultry, or fish are placed on top along with aromatic vegetables, and the vessel steamed on a brazier until the rice become suffused with the flavors. Before eating, the dish is spritzed with plenty of thick sweet soy sauce. The menu of this small, L-shaped space offers many further delights, including razor clams, Hong Kong-style lo mein (served deconstructed, with soup on the side), and beef chow fun with "Swiss sauce."
