Find refined southern Italian cooking at A Voce ("Word of Mouth"), just off the northeast corner of Madison Square. The ravioli-whether you pick the meat-stuffed grandma version, or the newfangled sweet-corn ravioli heaped with mushrooms-are the best in town, tasting like they were made minutes previously. Also recommended are the vegetarian antipasti appetizer (including burrata, caper-dotted pickled peppers, and a tart eggplant mash), and the lamb tasting of two chops and miscellaneous hunks of dense caramelized shank.

Finding a restaurant that served a dish featuring the surname of this beloved jazz trumpeter who worked with Coltrane and Coleman was no easy task.
