Not to be confused with two other establishments--one in Bed-Stuy, the other in Richmond Hill--A & A concentrates on the street snacks of Port of Spain, Trinidad, which include the vegetarian "doubles." Invented from Bengali materials, the snack consists of a pair of miniature pooris with a ladled-on filling of chick pea curry, which is then sluiced with scotch bonnet hot sauce and tamarind chutney. At $1.25 each, two make a very cheap lunch. Stuffed with things like chicken, goat, or shrimp, rotis are also available all day, but the sandwiches called "bakes," filled with shark or smoked herring, run out long before noon arrives, so plan accordingly. Mainly carryout--though there is a stand-up counter where you can consume.
