Call it First Avenue's auxiliary wing if you want, but this small-capacity offshoot of the venerable club is every bit as integral to the venue's identity as the mainroom. Since the early '80s, the Entry has been an ideal venue for local showcases and indie-friendly touring bands, and the room's size -- cozy without being crowded -- guarantees that you'll always have good sightlines to the stage.
Both political and pogo-friendly, riotously riffing pop-punk trio the Thermals have always been comfortable squeezing big ideas into short and spiky songs. That trend continues in earnest on the Portland band's sixth album, Desperate Ground.... More »

Event Review: Daughter
I'm so excited for this show! I saw Daughter live in NYC a week ago actually and it was an insanely beautiful performance. Its impossible to forget how brilliant their songs are. Anyone who hasn't seen them live should definitely stop by!
I love this place!
Club once owned by Prince. A Minneapolis institution for many years. Best bands new and established play here.

Ticket prices are usually pretty cheap, the sight lines are perfect, the sound is typically flawless, and fans are regularly able to connect in a personal way with the impressive legion of bands that continues to grace the club's tiny stage. Whether you're catching a young act on the rise or a veteran group that still... More »
Some will argue that the 7th St. Entry is too small to be the best concert venue in the Twin Cities. These people are wrong. In fact, the best thing the Entry has going for it is its size. It's small enough to promise an intimate performance--i.e., no line of knuckle-draggers in security T-shirts between you and the band--but big enough to catch popular acts. The Entry is a perennial venue for renowned local musicians and a Midwest hub for many national and international acts like... More »
Look, 7th St. Entry has a lot working against it. First, it's downtown, and heading there to see AIDS Wolf on a Saturday night puts you butts-to-bollocks with bumper-to-bumper traffic and throngs of people on their way from the Wolves game to the Hard Rock Cafe. There's parking to contend with, panhandlers to dodge, and god forbid you should be struck by an impending bowel movement once you make it inside. But from open to close, a 7th St. Entry show provides the finest environment to blow... More »
