The Olds crowd this deli tucked in a corner of a shopping plaza like kids at the opening of Bonnaroo. They wait in line for Jewish and Eastern European fare, especially during early-bird hours, from 3 to 6 p.m. They’ve found a good thing. Value-oriented breakfasts lure a crowd, as do the smoked herring, whitefish, and salmon. Dinner is where nostalgia takes a role. Order chopped liver like it’s the 1950s, or a bowl of chilled borscht. There’s plenty for smaller appetites too, whether it’s a bowl of matzo ball soup or a babka for your sweet tooth. Potato pancakes are sold year-round: no need to wait for Hanukkah. When you leave 3G Deli, both your wallet and your stomach will be full.
