When the 21 Club opened its doors in 1929, getting a drink was illegal, which would explain the secret wine cellar hidden behind a camouflaged door. Thankfully Prohibition is over and you can now choose from the restaurant's 1,300 different bottles of wine from around the world. The restaurant itself is easy to find; just look for the lawn jockeys lining its famous iron gate in front. Enter to find the Bar Room, an old-school space with a ceiling filled with various toys and sports memorabilia from famous guests. Above you'll find Upstairs at 21, the 32-seat dining room that has been feeding high society types for decades, decorated with chandeliers and murals of 1930s Manhattan. This is a classy place: no sneakers or jeans allowed. Chef David Greeley's menu has that classic New York feel to it, with everything from a wild game mixed grill and Dover sole to a grilled filet mignon and steak tartare.—Keith Wagstaff
