Not to be confused with the East Village joint 26 Seats, this below-Houston cafe; offers the pleasing combination of all-day breakfasts, bistro-style sandwiches, Middle Eastern salads, and ; surprise; Soviet food. The so-called Russian ravioli are really Siberian pelmeni, a profuse serving of tiny dumplings loaded with oily meat, perfect brunch fare as far as we're concerned. You'll also find a range of blintzes and potato pierogi, as well as one of downtown's best baba ghanoushes and perfect breaded chicken cutlets sided with mashed potatoes.
